The CDM is a complicated system that requires constant checking and verification. There are various authorities responsible for these processes.
Approved Methodologies.
Project participants willing to validate / register a CDM project activity shall:
use a methodology previously approved by the UN Executive Board
or propose a new methodology to the UN Executive Board for consideration and approval, if appropriate. There are two methodologies applicable to the TPA Agricultural Biogas Project. Methodology 1 Methodology 2
Baseline Methodology.
In order for a CDM project to be initiated the Baseline Requirements must first be calculated. There are various documents that explain this process available on the UNFCCC website.

Designated National Authority (DNA).
The South African DNA is the Department of Minerals and Energy (DME)

Designated Operational Entity (DOE).
A Designated Operational Entity under the CDM organization accredited and
designated, on a provisional basis until confirmed by the Executive Board (EB)
A DOE has two key functions:
It validates and requests registration of a proposed CDM project activity.
It verifies emission reduction of a registered CDM project activity.
